Calving update…

My cows are calving away, 2 sets of twins and only 2 friesian bulls so far out of 23 calvings, – some of those are Angus and Belgian Blues.

Ground has been way too wet to even consider grazing for the past 2 weeks, so at the minute milkers are on silage , straw, 17% ration- containing barley , soya, distillers and beet pulp, minerals and 5kg 21% dairy nut in parlour. I am hopeful of letting them out tomorrow though, fingers crossed….

All cattle have been dosed and I am very happy with my young stock, touch wood, ..

As regards my farm infrastructure,  I have applied for a grant to buy a new bulk milk tank, hopefully I will get it. I also intend on fixing up a few roadways this year , as I did some last year and cows feet have improved dramatically.

Regards,

Mary
